Polly Track

Speed cameras and limits

While riding you see your speed in large digits and the road's limit sign. Fixed speed cameras on the route are flagged 1,500 metres ahead, even with no signal.

What it does

Polly checks the fixed speed cameras on your route and in your direction of travel. The warning appears at 1,500 m with the distance and the limit. The voice speaks about 20 seconds before, at least 400 m ahead.

Riding on the SS1 with a roundabout in 3.2 km and the blue box "Speed camera in 710 m, 50, fixed cameras from OSM only; mobile cameras and average-speed zones are not included", speed 47 km/h with a 50 limit.

  • Limit: the sign appears when OpenStreetMap knows the road's limit.
  • Speed in red: it turns red when you go more than 2 km/h over the limit.
  • Voice: with the voice on "Alerts" you only hear restrictions, speed cameras and speed, no turns.

When it helps

On the main roads you ride to get to the dirt. That is where you open the throttle without thinking, and where fixed cameras are.

How to use it

Nothing to switch on: warnings and the limit show while navigating. Change the voice from ☰ › "Voice".

  1. Plan a route and tap "Ride".
  2. Speed and limit are at the bottom left.
  3. Before a fixed speed camera, a blue box shows the distance and the limit.

Good to know

  • Only fixed cameras that are in OpenStreetMap, and the list is not complete.
  • No mobile cameras and no average-speed zones.
  • The limit only shows where OpenStreetMap knows it. The road sign always wins.
  • Above 15 km/h the map does not respond to taps; it works again below 5 km/h. Buttons always work.
