Polly Track vs DMD2
DMD2 is an offroad and rally motorcycle navigation app for Android only, with a free base and a 6 or 12 month subscription whose price varies by country. Polly Track is a free motorcycle navigator for road and dirt, on Android and iPhone, currently covering Italy.
At a glance
- In common. Both pick dirt by difficulty (DMD2 has Offroad Easy, Medium and Hard), reroute with no signal, work with a handlebar remote and estimate fuel range.
- Phones. DMD2 runs on Android only; on iPhone there is a companion app that does not navigate. Polly Track runs on Android, iPhone and iPad.
- Roadbook. Both open OpenRally roadbooks. Polly Track builds the roadbook from your route, lets you correct it in the editor and exports it to PDF, GPX and OpenRally.
- Restrictions. DMD2 routes legally by default, with modules for some countries. Polly Track marks OpenStreetMap restrictions and, in some Italian regions, those from regional forest-road lists, with the reason.
- Costs. In DMD2 there are 3 free offline maps and the generic remote needs a licence. In Polly Track every region and the remote are free.
- Safety and weather. Polly Track has SOS by SMS on Android and iPhone, with your recent track. Weather in DMD2 is part of the subscription, in Polly Track it is for everyone.
