Polly Track

«Discover an area»

You have three hours and want some dirt, but you do not know where. Tell the app how many hours you have and what difficulty you want. It finds areas with the right dirt and builds the whole ride, there and back.

What it does

The ride has three parts: a quick transfer on the road, a dirt ride in the area at the difficulty you chose, and the way back on the road. On the map the transfers are paler, so you see straight away where the dirt is.

Discover an area form: My location near La Spezia, duration 3 hr, dirt difficulty Easy, Prefer new roads and the Find areas button.
Hours, difficulty and new roads.
Results for I have 3 hr: three areas with time, distance, dirt and climb, the first recommended with 142 km of new roads; below Transfer 23 min, Exploration 2 hr 12, Return 22 min and Why here?
Three areas that fit in 3 hours.
Topographic map above La Spezia with tracks, huts and springs; below, Where shall we ride?, Loop, Ride somewhere and in the Discover row the buttons Area · 3 hr, Nearby and Trip.
It starts from "Area · 3 hr" on the home screen.
  • You get 2 or 3 options that fit your hours, with the time of each part: "Transfer · Exploration · Return".
  • "Why here?" shows the area's km of dirt split into Easy, Medium and Hard, and the points of interest nearby.
  • The same warnings as other routes apply: restricted sections, seasonal closures on the ride date, last fuel, daylight and weather.
  • With "Prefer new roads" on, it recommends the option with the most roads you have never ridden.

When it helps

When you have a free afternoon and the enduro bike in the garage, but you know your usual roads by heart. Or when you are on holiday somewhere new and have no idea where the good dirt is.

How to use it

Home screen › "Discover" row › "Area · 3 hr" › "Find areas".

  1. On the home screen tap "Area · 3 hr".
  2. Choose how many hours you have and the dirt difficulty.
  3. Tap "Find areas" and look at the 2 or 3 options. "Why here?" tells you how much dirt there is.
  4. Pick an area and tap "Ride".

Good to know

  • If your hours leave too little time to explore, the app says so and suggests a loop or more time.
  • It only searches the regions you have downloaded.
  • Dirt and its difficulty come from OpenStreetMap. Signs on the ground always come first.
